Primary Purpose: To assist the building principal by assuming routine administrative functions that will enable the principal to devote his full time to promoting the educational well-being of each student in the school.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Master’s Degree
- Texas Mid-management or other appropriate Texas certificate
- Certified Professional Development & Appraisal System (PDAS) appraiser
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Thorough understanding of school operations
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
1. Three years’ experience as a classroom teacher
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assume responsibility for the total school operation in absence of the principal.
- Assume primary responsibility for supervision of pupil accounting including preparation of all related records and reports.
- Assume primary responsibility for administering school policy with respect to student discipline.
- Assist supervision of disciplinary control of all athletic, non-athletic, and extra-curricular activities.
- Plan and execute fire and civil defense drills as prescribed by law.
- Assist students in problem resolution including referral to appropriate personnel and/or agencies.
- Supervise textbook distribution and related records.
- Serve on ARD Committees as appropriate.
- Supervise arrangements for necessary uniformed security for all non-athletic school activities.
- Serve as school coordinator with Alternative School.
- Assist in recommending policy.
- Assume responsibility of supervision during lunch periods.
- Exemplify high standards of moral and ethical conduct.
- Assign teacher duties, e. bus duty, extracurricular, etc.
- Serve as teacher trainer for the building discipline management plan.
- Conduct student orientation to the parent-student handbook.
- Secure substitutes and make necessary preparations.
- Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job performance.
- Work in harmony with supervisory, faculty, and peer personnel.
- Use professional information discreetly and judiciously.
- Support and follow administrative and Board policy.
- Represent the school system to the community in a positive, professional way.
- Maintain a sincere, friendly attitude toward patrons.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
